RUSTIC ANA WHITE CONSOLE TABLE

If you check out the blog site for the well-known DIYer, Ana White, you will find plans for many different projects. One of my favorites was this Rustic X Console Table. We needed a long table in our family room for this one boring wall. I knew I had to make it!!!

A co-worker of mine, who also has a love for building, had some spare wood in his shed. I looked through the plans downloaded from Ana White's web site (click here). And I got all of the wood from my co-worker, which was great for him, since it somewhat cleaned out his shed!

The table turned out great! Many of our guests can't believe that I made it, and neither can I! I did some adjustments to HOW I put it together just because I couldn't understand how to work the Kreg Jig to make pocket holes for the pocket screws. On the other hand, I like the screws showing because it adds to the rustic, hand-made appeal that I want.

I stained it with Cedar stain, first, then followed it with grey stain from Minwax, and, finally, made light brush strokes of some white wash paint I made.
By the way, pay no attention to the unfinished Gallery wall or the lamp shade that is missing, or the spots on the carpet, as all will be changing in the near future.
Working the plans allowed me to understand better how to make furniture, and I am in love!
